SOSEC Nepal is working giving high priority and sensitivity to the rights of women, children, and youth empowerment. It works with various development partner organizations to obtain the rights of women, children, the Raute community, marginalized people and communities which are highly impacted by discrimination and inequality in Dailekh, Kalikot, and Surkhet districts of Karnali province, and Achham district of Sudurpaschim province of Nepal, using the integrated development approach. The organization is also adopting a zero-tolerance policy on violence against women, children and corruption.

SOSEC Nepal is going to implement project named “Girls Matter: Addresing Discrimination, and promoting Nutrition, WASH and Social Justice in the selected Municiplaities of Karnali)” in partnership with UNICEF Nepal and in coordination with Dullu Municipality of Dailekh district and Chaukune Rural Municipality of Surkhet District. This project aims to promote nutrition status, Child protection, WASH and social justice in selected municipalities i.e: Dullu Municipality, Dailekh and Chaukune Rural Municipality, Surkhet of Karnali province. The project seeks to combat discrimination and inequality by working with marginalized communities, especially women and girls, to enhance their access to basic services and advance their rights. The project will be carried out in collaboration with various government bodies and other stakeholders. Its activities include awareness-raising campaigns, capacity-building workshops, and the provision of basic services like healthcare, nutrition, and education. The project also seeks to empower marginalized communities by promoting their participation in decision-making processes and strengthening their social networks.

SOSEC Nepal is looking for qualified, dynamic, competent, and self-motivated Nepali citizens in Dailekh and Surkhet (Chaukune Rural Municipality and Dullu Municipality) for the Girls Matter project for immediate deployment to the field, subject to donor approval, for the following positions:

Program Officer (Female Only)

Number of Position : One (1)

Role and Responsibilities:

The position holder will be overall responsible for the implementation of Girls matter program activities at Rural/Municipality with an aim to promote social justice by addressing discrimination. This position also aims to improve the status of education, protection, and child rights and special focus to the children (0-19) from the most marginalized communities. S/he will work in the direct supervision/management of the project coordinator. She/he will work in close coordination and collaboration with relevant government institutions based in the relevant stakeholders. In addition, s/he will work closely with the different thematic and department within the organization of Girls Matter project.

The overall role and responsibilities of the Program Officer is given below.

Implementation of the project

  • Sensitization and training on identify and mitigate risks of GBV through sensitization and safe referral to services at Palika as well as Organize multi stakeholder platform and meeting to discuss for identification and mitigation of GBV including safe referral to services
  • Support to Strengthen safe house (shelter Service for GBV victims) GBV and CP service provider Mapping, Publication and distribution.
  • Advocate and provide technical support to establish and functionalize ward and Palika level child rights committee
  • Improved access to and quality of psychosocial services for children, adolescents, caregivers, and vulnerable persons in need of support. Conduct sensitization on PSS in schools Mobilization of Community Psychosocial Workers (CPSWs) Conduct sensitization on PSS in community with caregivers
  • Reduced vulnerability of women and children to protection risks by providing age and gender-relevant integrated services, including socio-economic support and referrals.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessment (VA) of the children who are at risk of early marriage, labour, abuse and exploitation using VA tools
  • Provide technical support to enroll those children who are out of school or risk of school drop out or medical or other basic need support
  •  Provide economic empowerment support and technical training on enterprises to girl who are at risk of CM, child labour, exploitation and abuse.
  • Improved knowledge, skills, attitudes and capacities of adolescent girls and parents for making informed choices and decision through the implementation of Rupantaran social and financial skills package Social and financial skill (Rupantaran ToT) Trainings Support formation of girl’s groups/club/network at ward and palika level
  • Roll out Rupantaran Session at community and School. as well as conduct Parenting education package as Community outreach program for ending child marriage.
  • Provede orientation to all FCHVs for screening of children by using MUAC tapes
  • Orient mothers on Family MUAC during Health Mother’s Group (HMG) Meeting
  • Regular monitoring and supervision by Health facility and Palika
  • Orientation to school teacher (health) on healthy eating habits and adolescent IFA including school deworming.
  • Suport to strengthens the implementation of the Girls’ Insurance program (BKCSJV) at the school level,
  • Provide psychosocial counseling and sensitization within the same community to address the emotional and psychosocial needs of adolescent girls.
  • Improved capacity of local government in delivery of social protection measures to improve the coverage of marginalized communities especially girls.
  • Conduct a scientific assessment on the status and accessibility of SSA among Badi and Raji community in the respective working municipalities
  • Setting up/activation of child club ensuring participation from marginalized communities empowered to track coverage of social protection schemes.
  • Organised Community level orientation on Social Protection Mechanism and accessibility process.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Collect both qualitative and quantitative data, case stories, video clips, pictures, etc. from the field and assist with data processing and documentation in the proper way.
  •  Work in the compilation and development of project reports; the preparation of case stories; collection of feedback and learning for developmental evaluation; in coordination with the MEAL and documentation teams project team.
  • Focusing on evidence generation of the project actions and the needs of the schools and youth for climate adaptive practices and know-how to be developed in the succeeding period.

Coordination and Collaboration

Establish and maintain close collaboration with the Dullu Municipality, and Chakune Rural Municipalty, the Girls Matter team, the School, Health center, child clubs, youth clubs, adolescents club, Child Rights Committee and other stakeholders for the synergetic implementation of the project.

Others

  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator and UNICEF child protection officer to ensure the successful implementation of the envisioned Girls Matter project.
  • Any other tasks developed during the implementation of the project.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in BPH, Social Science, BSW, law or any related field.

Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of three years’ experience (two years for the NGO sector) in protection sector and Capabilities in the facilitation of life skills training, (Rupantaran) will be an added value.
