Role Profile

The purpose of this role is to support the Nepal Country Office management in keeping with the good science on which our conservation delivery is founded. The post holder will be responsible for all field-based research and monitoring activities focusing mainly on species, habitat, and ecosystem conservation and management using established methodologies with data analysis, publications, maintenance of datasets, and coordination with ZSL HQ scientists. The postholder will also be responsible for leading development of projects that are evidence-based and underpinned by conservation science.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on the data management, analysis, reports and publications
  • Technical capacity building of ZSL and partner staff
  • Support developing of project concepts and proposals
  • Project design and implementation especially the research component
  • Maintain relationships with Government and other NGO partners

Person Specification

  • PhD in wildlife ecology or conservation biology
  • Technically proficient and qualified in the field of wildlife biology with high-quality publications
  • At least 5 years of previous experience in conservation sector of Nepal
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the latest statistical packages, population modelling, GIS utilities
  • Familiarity with GDPR, data management, ownership issues
  • Familiar with publication guidelines and the world of the scientific journals
