Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Water Treatment Technician. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.
The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
The incumbent operates Raw Water Treatment Plants and Wastewater Treatment Plants at the U.S. Mission compounds. The incumbent ensures the potable water is treated in accordance with set standards and is safe for consumption by the embassy community. The incumbent ensures that wastewater effluent meets set standards and is safe for discharge. The incumbent implements preventative maintenance and repair program. The incumbent supervises water truck drivers and maintenance laborer. The incumbent sets drivers’ schedules and maintains a delivery schedule to ensure all embassy residential housing is delivered treated water on a consistent basis.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience as technician in operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plant is required. One year of supervisory experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to use basic plumbing tools. Should have good understanding on day-to-day operation and maintenance of water treatment plant with the knowledge on chemicals that are to be used in these plants.
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school required. Completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized for producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing technicians or treatment plant operations.

These may be tested (Language, Skills, and Abilities).
LANGUAGE: Good Working Knowledge Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required
