We are now looking for interested and qualified individuals for the various positions at SOS Children’s Village Surkhet.

Job Position:

Senior Counsellor (1): SOS Children’s Village Surkhet

The Counsellor will be responsible for supporting the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of children. S/he will also be responsible for guiding them by assessing their special educational requirements. S/he should have a good understanding of professional counselling approaches and strong skills in organising and facilitating training/workshops. S/he should manage documents, maintain the database, prepare the activities for children and young people, and report events.
Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance in the overall development of young people; this includes supporting young people through proper counselling and helping them overcome their weaknesses and resolve problems with their peer group and others
  • Assesses the special educational requirement of individual youth and makes arrangements for support; this includes maintaining regular contact with teachers to follow up on the academic progress and timely monitoring of the children’s academic performance
  • Organises sessions on enhancing self-esteem by creating awareness on mental health through different extra-curricular activities such as debate, theatre and other activities

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least second division and a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and three years relevant work experience or Master’s Degree in Psychology or Master’s Degree in any discipline with at least second division or equivalent and a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and one-year relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali and proficiency in computer applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Experience in working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • Preference will be given to candidates having a two–wheeler license.

Field Mobiliser (2): Family Strengthening Programme Surkhet and Bardiya

The Field Mobiliser will be responsible for the implementation of Family Strengthening Programme activities along with monitoring and evaluation of the programme. S/he will work with children and young people along with their families within the community to enhance their quality of life. S/he will also be responsible for reporting and documenting programme activities such as periodic report, case studies and success stories.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the activities within family strengthening programme are implemented in ways that are responsive to communities and children in line with principles, values and strategic plan of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal
  • Conducts meetings and orientations to the participants in the community
  • Works closely with the relevant local networks, Self-Help Group, forums, platforms, working groups and advocate on behalf of the organisation for the promotion of child rights and child safeguarding

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Social Science, or any other relevant discipline with at least second division or equivalent accompanied by at least one year of work experience, or an Intermediate qualification with at least second division and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in child protection and/or community mobilisation, particularly those who have worked with children and families to empower them
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali and proficiency in computer applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Preference will be given to candidates having a two–wheeler license

Caregiver – Day Care Centre (1) (Female): Family Strengthening Programme Bardiya

The Caregiver will be responsible for taking care of children in the Day-Care Centre. She will be supporting the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of children. She will also be responsible for guiding them by assessing their special educational requirements.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance in the overall development of children in Day Care Centre
  • Organises scheduled learning activities for the intellectual development of children
  • Maintain the sanitation and nutrition of children in Day Care Centre

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of an intermediate qualification with at least second division or equivalent and one year of teaching experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have undergone ECD training or possess related education or caregiving training
  • Excellent communication skills in Nepali
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

Guard (1) (Male) : SOS Children’s Village Surkhet

The Guard will be responsible for the safety and security of SOS Children’s Village Surkhet. He will look after the physical assets of organisation along with safety of the children and coworkers in SOS Children’s Village Surkhet.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Vigilantly monitors for any unusual occurrences that could potentially pose a threat to both property and individuals.
  • Ensures safety within the premises of SOS Children’s Village Surkhet with a particular focus on maintaining control at the entrance gate.
  • Responds promptly and effectively during times of crisis, demonstrating appropriate responses with both children and colleagues.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates with prior experience in security forces/groups or any organisation’s safety and security sector are preferred.
  • Have sound knowledge on safety and security
  • Excellent communication skills in Nepali
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Preference will be given to candidates having a two–wheeler license

For the above mentioned positions, candidates must be Nepali citizens below 35 years of age.
