Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) is a not-for-profit civic tech company that works at the intersection of emerging cutting-edge technological tools and their applications by equipping young professionals to solve emerging challenges in our community. YI-Lab’s mission statement is, ‘to engage young people to bridge science to people and policy through innovation’. YI-Lab harnesses indigenous knowledge, citizen science approach, develops low-cost technological solutions, promotes open data, promotes entrepreneurship, and conducts evidence-based advocacy campaigns. YI-Lab provides a conducive environment for young people to co-create solutions for inclusive development.

Summary

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and YI-Lab, with funding from GIZ, are implementing a project titled “Business Incubation for strengthened local agri-food systems in Karnali” with the aim to provide business incubation services to agri-entrepreneurs. The project aims at expanding green marketplaces in two districts of Karnali Province. The business incubation services will be delivered through three core activities: Bootcamp Training, Mentorship, and Exhibitions for a selected group of 300 ecopreneurs, along with 40 business intermediaries. To implement the project in seven palikas of the two districts, YI-Lab is seeking applications for two Program Associates (one for Dailekh and one for Surkhet) from qualified Nepali citizens. Preferences will be given to applicants from Dailekh and Surkhet.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Management or other relevant subjects. Masters’ Degree will be an advantage;
  • Freshers can apply. However, experienced professionals will be preferred;
  • Knowledge of development work at the sub-national contexts;
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Nepali;
  • Creative and tech-savvy people including those who are passionate about audio-visual documentation;
  • Strong motivation and time management skills;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a diverse, team-oriented environment;
  • Willingness to learn and work hard;
  • Experience in using the office software packages such as Office 365, and
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of the project in accordance with the project requirements;
  • Coordinate and work closely with the project team and government as well as non-government partners in the field throughout the project implementation and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Organize and coordinate various workshops and trainings in the districts, and represent the project in the field;
  • Monitor the implementation of project activities, coordinate with local stakeholders, collect data and prepare reports as per the project requirements
  • Effectively liaise/network and main good relationship with project partners, and
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head of the Programs.
