Living Water Nepal (LWN) is a non-governmental organization which is committed to provide access to safe, sustainable drinking water for communities of Nepal. Our main focus is to improve the quality of life to the people of Nepal through safe water programs, sanitation facilities and hygiene education.

WASH Officer


Required No:
1 (Female Only)

The WASH Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring WASH activities to improve community health and well-being. They ensure all interventions comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, and government standards. The officer coordinates with staff, local authorities, stakeholders, and communities to promote sustainable WASH practices. They prepare reports, document progress, and support behavior change communication efforts. The role involves frequently (about 80%) field visits to implement Sanitation & Hygiene activities and provide technical guidance.

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify the necessary training related to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in the community and conduct regular training sessions.
  • Assisting managers in planning, budgeting, and ensuring successful implementation of WASH-related activities.
  • Promote positive sanitation behavior change in the community through behavior change communication and educational materials.
  • Ensure the implementation of WASH activities based on budget, quantity, and quality.
  • Prepare quality reports regularly based on project goals, objectives, impacts, activities, and prescribed standards, and submit these reports to fulfill the organization’s objectives.
  • Document learned lessons, case studies, and success stories for organizational learning.
  • Coordinate with local governments, stakeholders, and community members to ensure project sustainability and ownership.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the organization.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Water and Sanitation, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in the implementation of WASH projects, preferably with NGOs or development organizations.
  • Experience in community mobilization, training facilitation, and behavior change communication (BCC) related to WASH.
  • Familiarity with government WASH policies, standards, and coordination mechanisms at local and national levels.
  • Prior experience working in rural or remote areas and coordinating with local authorities and communities is an asset.
