Volunteer(Communications)

Background:

CBM Global works closely with the national partners, including Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), to implement multiple projects in Nepal. A wide variety of news and stories are generated during project implementation, which requires dissemination within CBM Global and beyond.
CBM Global NCO produces monthly e-newsletter covering key features of the month to update our broad readers ranging from community implementing agencies, International NGOs in Nepal, UN agencies, and across CBM Global federation, members, and staffs. We have Global Connect, an internal communication platform, where we upload relevant stories as and when they are available. We organise Photo Voice exhibition twice a year in and out of Kathmandu that brings out the success stories of women with disabilities from different intersectional background in Nepal.
The volunteer will support in gathering and compiling success stories, news, and photographs, and organizing and framing them for dissemination through various platforms. Through this assignment, the volunteer is expected to enhance knowledge and expertise in communications, including writing and networking skills.

Duration: 8 months.
Based: CBM Global Nepal County Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur.
Reports to: Disability Inclusion Advisor
Stipend: Applicable

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and compile contents including photos for monthly e-newsletter in coordination with project/programme focal person and implementing agencies.
  • Contribute to give a shape to news content for final publication, incorporating the feedbacks from peer reviewers.
  • Contribute to empower the implementing agencies in news creation and photography of the event and field related activities.
  • Prepare news of any event organised by Country Team and forward to upload in Global Connect.
  •  Contribute to organise Photo Voice Exhibition event in and out of Kathmandu in collaboration with the stakeholders.
  •  Facilitate to develop success stories from the field level.
  • Coordinate with media as per the requirement.
  •  Handle CBM Global Nepal social media pages.

  • Enhance coordination and communications skill.
  • Understand the role of communications in development projects.
  • Build network and relations with media outlets.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mass Media, Journalism, Communications, or similar field.
  • Basic understanding of communications and media.
  • Good writing skills both in English and Nepali. Some experience in preparing written communications preferred.
  • Basic know-how of Nepali media outlets.
  • Good IT skills with some experience in managing social media.
