Program Coordinator

Location: Kathmandu

Ipas works globally with a vision that every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health. Our programs use a multifaceted approach that addresses reproductive health services, access to services and fulfillment of reproductive rights.
As part of the broader reproductive justice movement, Ipas is working to ensure that abortion and contraceptive care are essential health services and that all people can access them. Our programs use a multifaceted approach that addresses reproductive health services, access to services and fulfillment of reproductive rights. We seek to expand the availability, quality and sustainability of abortion and related reproductive health services, as well as improve the enabling environment for the services.
Ipas Nepal’s program intervention prioritizes intersectional partnerships that integrates into the broader gender equality and social justice, including gender-based violence prevention and response, and women-led climate justice.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the HoD – Partnership and field Operation and will work under the direct supervision of the HoD – Partnership and field Operation. This position will have an approximate 50% field work travel. S/he will be responsible for effective implementation of the adolescents/youth/community program of Ipas Nepal and The coordinator will also be involved in program and financial monitoring, including developing implementation plans, reviewing progress, and conducting field visits. Other duties encompass PNGO coordination, reporting, documenting best practices, and representing Ipas Nepal in relevant meetings.

Program implementation

  • Coordinate with province coordinators, and field team local level, district level, and province partners to ensure the Safe abortion program is integrated in their annual plan.
  • In close communication and coordination with the Program unit, support field team to implement youth and community engagement activities at the Palikas level, district level and province level.
  • Provide technical orientation on SRHR, YFS, VCAT, and SAS including stigma reduction to government elected bodies, health coordinators, HFOMC, health facility in charge, service providers, journalist and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance to PNGOs team for ASRH orientation and trainings to adolescents/youth and HFOMC members.
  • Provide trainings and orientation to PNGO to build their capacity in SRHR including SAS.
  • Support to monitor ASRH related activities at the schools and community level

Program and financial monitoring

  • Support to develop the detailed implementation plan (DIP) and program tracker by projects in coordination with M&E, Finance and other program team.
  • Support to review the monthly, quarterly, and annual, program and financial progresses, update program tracker by project for internal compliance, and donor reporting requirements.
  • Undertake regular field monitoring visits to review program progress, workplan implementation and to support the community and PNGOs in their activities.
  • Provide guidance to the PNGOs on effective implementation of program and financial management in accordance with Ipas Nepal policies and monitor the financial reports(budget vs expenses).

Coordination with PNGOs

  • Assist in program planning, workplan activities implementation, budget tracking, semi-annual review of the PNGOs.
  • Provide support to prepare monthly progress status plan on the achievement of PNGOs.
  • Coordinate with respective Ipas Nepal units and provide them with the required program backstopping advice and assistance for effective PNGOs field level activities implementation.
  • Support to assess the existing situation, needs and demands on the PNGOs.

Reporting, documentation

  • Collect and review the financial and program documents for payments and program achievement monitoring.
  • Review the PNGOs and field staff submitted Terra Forms and submit to RM&E unit for entry into Terra system.
  • Collect best practices, case studies and the documents to integrate them in the donor report.
  • Publication of IEC and BCC materials related to SRHR and SAS for dissemination at local level.
  • Represent Ipas Nepal in meetings/events related to community engagement with NHEICC, FWD, and other external stakeholders
  • Understand and comply with the organization policies and ethics
  • Understand and comply with the Human Resources, Procurement, Travel, Finance Policy, and other policies of the organization.
  • Commitment and adherence to the Ipas code of business ethics and conduct and safeguarding policy.
  • Ensure Ipas representatives (including consultants, interns, volunteers, independent contractors, suppliers/vendors, board members, sub-awardees) and government officials directly working with Ipas and its partners understand and practice the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse policy while in partnership and implement program with Ipas.
  • Contribute to safe working environment where every team member is treated equally and respectfully.

  • Ensure all work activities comply with the organization rules and regulations
  • Ensure proper documentation of memo’s, decisions, reports and any official documents for record keeping hardcopy/OneDrive/Luna as appropriate.

PSEA compliance

Program Staff responsibilities

  • Take the responsibility and ownership to inform and display information on Ipas Nepal commitment about PSEA in every Ipas supported program/event/workshop/training as defined by Ipas Nepal PSEA policy.
  • All Ipas implementing partners will develop PSEA policy/or a brief guideline endorsed by the board.

Other responsibilities

  • Engage in a learning culture and participate and enrol learning courses of Ipas University.
  • Willing to be back up for staff and vacant positions and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Science or Development Studies with 3 years of relevant experience in community level health system work including RH or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Science or Development Studies with 5 years of relevant experience in community level health system work including RH
  • Having experience in training facilitation with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Having work experience in collaboration with PNGOs.
  • Having experience to work in IEC and BCC field.
  • Good computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
