About Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC)
Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC) is a non-governmental organisation working for sustainable development and environmental justice in Nepal. Its focus areas of work include climate change, low-carbon development, resilience and disaster risk reduction and environmental sustainability. In these areas, PRC conducts research and study; carries out policy intervention; builds awareness, knowledge and capacity of stakeholders; and facilitates dialogue among them.

Job Summary
The Programme Manager will be a full-time employee of Prakriti Resources Centre, reporting to the Director (Programme and Finance). S/he will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects, quality assurance, and meeting reporting requirements of PRC projects. The Programme Manager will provide technical direction to the staff under her/his management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Programme/Project Management

  • Responsible for planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of programme and project activities.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation structures and processes under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Track expenditure progress and overall financial status in a timely manner to ensure the financial health of the projects.
  • Provide timely, evidenced and high-quality project progress and financial reports according to donor requirements.
  • Prepare project concept notes and proposals as well as seek new funding opportunities under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Provide the Advocacy, Innovation and Research Unit with relevant input/materials for advocacy and communication/project visibility purposes.
  • Support the management committee in organisational operation and management work.
  • Ensure delivery of tasks in compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and link with government and other stakeholders including NGOs, development partners, relevant networks and platforms proactively seeking potential collaborations and funding opportunities.
  • Represent PRC in relevant forums and events.

Team/People Management

  • Develop a shared understanding of PRC’s vision and strategic goals, and empower team members to realise them.
  • Create agreed individual performance objectives aligned to organizational strategy.
  • Hold 1:1 meetings at least monthly, to maximise performance through coaching, giving and receiving feedback, and appraising performance against objectives.
  • Proactively manage resources (people, money, assets, information and organizational
    knowledge) to maximize PRC’s impact on its focus areas of work.
  • Initiate team learning opportunities and facilitate sharing learning.
  • Hold self and others accountable for effectively delivering performance objectives.

Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Environment Science, Climate Change, Natural Resources Management, Development Studies, Public Policy or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 4 years’ demonstrated experience in working in projects on environment, climate change, low carbon and sustainable development or related field, with more than 2 years in a leading position.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively lead and develop a team of diverse staff members.
  • Proven project cycle management (PCM) skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of cross-cutting issues (gender and social inclusion, and good governance).
  • Excellent knowledge of office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power points)
  • Able to take initiatives, multi-tasking, and willing to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Direct experience of creating and maintaining budgets with ability to interpret financial information and to manage and monitor budgets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
