Program Name: “Unified together Humanitarian assistance and Disaster Prepaidness in Nepal (UTHAN) in Jumla & Kalikot district in West Nepal project
Duty station: 1-Jumla and 1-Kalikot

Job purpose:
Overall implementation of the project- “Unified together Humanitarian assistance and Disaster Prepaidness in Nepal (UTHAN) in Jumla & Kalikot district in West Nepal project Implementation and coordinating with stakeholders including partner. The incumbent will be responsible for mobilizing team and influencing government for achieving project goal and results. The focus will be capacity building of target groups, changing social norms, behavior and knowledge. Project will strengthening the disaster preparedness.

Dimensions of Role:
Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible for implementation of project based on project framework under “Unified together Humanitarian assistance and Disaster Prepaidness in Nepal (UTHAN) in Jumla & Kalikot district in West Nepal project. Project Jumla. S/he supports project team to achieve quality results through in-depth analysis of existing data and reports. The position requires documenting outcome and results following the project’s requirement and reporting progress against the targets/indicators in Jumla and Kalikot. S/he will prepare progress reports, fact sheets, and dashboard of progress in line with the project application and subsequent documents agreed and signed between Caritas Germany, Caritas Nepal and PACE Nepal. S/he will responsible effective planning, implementation of project through influencing, campaign and stakeholder’s management. The Project Coordinator (PC) works closely with Board, Program Head, Executive Director ED, Finance Coordinator (FC), Admin & finance Officer (AFO) and MEDO to ensure that all community mobilization activities are implemented properly and complemented the quality specified in the agreement. Additionally, s/he is responsible for the documentation, including success stories, and lessons learnt (Learned) in a prescribed format. S/he establishes a system to record all progress, performance of activities and be liable for all documentation works related to the project’s achievement. S/he adheres to community mobilization during the time of designing, implementing, and monitoring of the program activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports and collect Information for progress reports; gather the necessary evidence to back up the progress, and to ensure activities are implemented in line with the desired program activities.
  • Prepare and document the success stories, best practices, and lessons learned and share with team, community, local, and district-level line agencies as appropriate.
  • Engage with the program team to ensure that key program indicators are tracked on a regular basis and progress is reported to Program.
  • Prepare/Produce/develop other necessary periodic reports, digital and non-digital information related to community mobilization of the Program to ensure compliance, including the branding and marking standards.
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor and/or required by the organization.
  • Provide support to community organizer (CO) to develop qualitative/ quantitative reports and ensure timely submission of those reports to Partners.
  • Prepare a training plan and monitoring plan.
  • Share the organization plan to Caritas Nepal and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Facilitate all staff of the project for achieving the lasting result of the project.

Implementation:

  • Identification of vulnerable households as per vulnerability criteria.
  • Accountable for budget mobilization
  • Ensure local government participation during the beneficiaries’ selection process and activity implementation.
  • Ensure documentation i.e. financial documents and process documents during the implementation of planned activities.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Continuously monitor progress against the work plan through the field visit.
  • Ensure the community feedback mechanism in place, analysis and ensure effectiveness.
  • Review all the project documents and prepare data base and narrative reports, and submit to the organization.
  • Maintain programmatic and financial transparency among communities and stakeholders.
  • Monitor the project activities regularly in line with Cash flow and M&E plan.
  • Ensure effective project monitoring by taking necessary corrective actions.
  • To ensure the project quality, timely implementation

Coordination and Networking, influencing, and campaigning:

  • Coordinate with project members, Palika and other stakeholders in relation to the project implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Lead sectoral networking and representation and build relationships and alliances with relevant networks, government bodies, other agencies at district and local level.
  • Represent in sectoral clusters at province, district and palika level
  • Lead evidence-based lobby and advocacy within the sectoral program in planning and delivering campaigning and advocacy work and ensure that programme plans include influencing objectives
  • Represent in child and young people rights relevant committees, professional networks and mechanism.
  • Initiate for innovative campaigns at local relevant issues affecting children and young people.
  • Contribute to communications and media work as required by project.
  • Work jointly with other NGOs, CSOs, INGOs and Government line agencies working on child and young people (girls and young women) rights issue to promote coordination and resource sharing at the Palikas/districts/ level.

Mainstreaming corporate policies in Implementation

  • Ensure risks associated with Safeguarding policy are identified and mitigation measures placed during implementation of project activities.
  • Ensure Anti-fraud and Corruption policy is clearly articulated to partners and necessary checkpoints are in place to prevent breach.
  • Ensure partnership’s mandatory corporate policies are abide by during implementation.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field with 3 years working experience in relevant area or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years working experience in relevant area
  • Experience in Earthquake prepaidness and Youth Empowerment and DRR in any field sector.

Knowledge and skill

  • Good knowledge on project and stakeholder management, project scope management and conflict management, team mobilization and financial operation.
  • Facilitation, influencing, and networking.
  • Ability to use basic office electronic equipment & computer applications, MS word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Learning attitude.
  • Knowledge on project monitoring, data collection, and analysis, and report writing.
  • Communicate in English and Nepali (local language added value)
  • Leadership skill
