Aasaman Nepal is going to implement SRHR and Gender equality/women empowerment including ending child marriage and harmful practices Programs in Madhesh Province, in the partnership with UNFPA(Proposed). The overarching objectives of the programs are to enhance reproductive health outcomes, eliminate gender-based violence, empower women economically and socially, and reduce child marriage. The integrated approach aims to provide comprehensive reproductive health services, promote gender equity, facilitate women’s economic empowerment through skill development and entrepreneurship, and contribute to the global effort of ending child marriage. These programs collectively strive to create a society where individuals, particularly women and adolescents, have the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to make informed decisions about their health, well-being, and future.

Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:

MEAL Coordinator – (Nos-1)

Location: Janakpurdham
Position Type: Full-time

Overview:

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the effective implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of UNFPA’s programs in Janakpur, Dhanusha. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in monitoring and evaluation, data management, and program development. The MEAL Coordinator will lead efforts to establish robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensure data quality, and facilitate learning and accountability mechanisms within the organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Monthly Plan Preparation:

  • Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to develop comprehensive monthly plans that outline specific activities, targets, follow-up actions, and monitoring strategies aligned with the Annual Work Plan (AWP) agreed upon with UNFPA’s three programs.
  • Ensure that monthly plans are realistic, achievable, and in line with program objectives and goals.

2. M&E Framework Development:

  • Take the lead in developing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks, tools, and templates to effectively monitor program activities, outcomes, and impacts.
  •  Design data collection methods and processes that adhere to the AWP and UNFPA’s standards, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and completeness of data.

3. Timely Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular and timely monitoring activities to assess progress, identify challenges, and measure the impact of program interventions.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure data integrity and reliability, addressing any discrepancies or issues identified during monitoring promptly.

4. Reporting:

  • Compile technical and quantitative data collected through monitoring activities in a complete and timely manner.
  •  Prepare comprehensive reports using standard templates to communicate program progress, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned to relevant partners and stakeholders.

5. Field Visits:

  • Conduct frequent field visits to track program activities against the AWP and quarterly plans, providing hands-on support and guidance to program staff and partners.
  • Use field visits as an opportunity to gather firsthand information, assess implementation challenges, and facilitate learning and adaptation.

6. Support to MEAL Officers:

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to MEAL officers to strengthen their capacity in developing program frameworks, plans, templates, and other related materials.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance MEAL officers’ skills and competencies in monitoring, evaluation, and accountability practices.

7. Capacity Building:

  • Identify capacity-building needs within the organization related to monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning.
  • Develop and implement training programs and workshops to enhance staff and partner organizations’ understanding and skills in MEAL practices.

8. Knowledge Management:

  •  Establish systems for knowledge sharing and learning within the organization, including the documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
  •  Facilitate regular learning sessions and forums to promote knowledge exchange and continuous improvement.

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from recognized university
  • Minimum of five years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and accountability roles, preferably in the field of reproductive health or development in I/NGOs
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing M&E frameworks, tools, and templates, with a strong understanding of data management principles and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
  •  Proficiency in relevant computer applications, including MS Office suite and statistical software.
  •  Willingness to travel frequently for field visits within the designated area.

Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English, Maithili, Bhojpuri (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.
