Heifer Project International Nepal (HPIN) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for the earth by providing livestock, education, and other resources to help poor families become self-reliant. HPIN invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens for the following position for the “Innovation in Agro-Livestock Value Chains Development in Nepal (IALVC)” Project.

Market Development Lead- Agriculture – 1

Major Roles and Responsibility:

The Agri Market Development Lead of the IALVC project will be responsible for establishing several agriculture (specifically vegetable) processing centers that set new standards for efficiency and productivity. S/he will identify suitable locations for processing centers aligned with clusters of producers, and devise growth strategies for those producers. Additionally, s/he will assess and facilitate the implementation of innovative technologies to increase production and processing efficiency, develop branding strategies that prioritize food safety, traceability, and pesticide-free practices, and establish market linkages. The Agri Market Development Lead will work closely with local governments and private sectors to leverage resources and secure funding for the processing center’s development and other associated initiatives. Responsible for developing strategies to link farmers’ produce to appropriate markets; this will include supply chain management, processing, and branding of the farmer’s process. Deploy the appropriate innovative technologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, plus at least 7 years of experience in agricultural business development, market development, or related fields, OR
  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, plus at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proven track record of establishing market linkages, developing branding strategies, and implementing growth strategies for agricultural production clusters.
  • Understanding of local and international food regulations regarding food
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the private sector development of the partnership model.
  • Proficiency and practical exposure to community organizations, either through direct involvement or close collaboration.
  • Proven experience in establishing and managing agri processing centers.

Program Officer – 4

Major Roles and Responsibility:

The Program Officer will serve in accordance with HPIN’s vision, mission, goal, objectives, policies, and procedures. S/he will coordinate with thematic leads to provide oversight in social capital, supply chain, market system development and cooperative development aspects of the project and provide strategic guidance and support to project partners, self-help groups (SHGs), cooperatives, and local governments for effective project implementation. The Officer will also build the capacity of local partners and provide continuous backstopping for optimum project results.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in Agriculture Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field plus a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar context is required.
  • Experience working with an international organization is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, electronic mail (Microsoft Office preferred), and internet.
  • Good leadership qualities and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
