Position: Officer-Public Health

Location: Head Office, Lalitpur
Starting Date: September 2023
Duration of Contract: One year with possibility of Extension
Gross Salary: NPR ranging from 840,378 to 887,502 per annum based on competency

Background:

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization
established in 1991 and working in 40 countries.
GNI has been working in Nepal since 2002 with the objective of improving lives of poor people,
especially children through child protection, education, income generation, health services,
water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation, gender and
advocacy programs. As a public health officer, the incumbent shall assist in the day-to-day
activities to implement planned programs of health and WASH. Additionally, the incumbent
shall stay in the GNI Nepal Head Office (Lalitpur) reporting to the Public Health Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning and Implementation

  • Review online Project Management System and annual activity tracker to keep record
    of ongoing activities
  • Follow up with the project offices to ensure the implementation of planned activities
    in adherence with the timeline and budget
  • Review the Plan of Action prepared by the project offices
  • Make initial screening of Round Robin (Activity Approval Process) received from
    project offices
  • Provide technical support to project offices to complete health and WASH-related
    activities

2. MEAL

  • Review and compile periodic progress reports
  • Facilitate PNGOs’ staff to capture the results.
  • Participate in field monitoring
  • Support in research and survey-related work
  • Prepare district profile and maintain district-wise support details under health system
    strengthening
  • Collect case stories, best practices, lessons learned from project areas

3. Capacity Building

  • Develop content for training and development of project staff
  • Facilitate training for project staff

4. Communication and Coordination

  •  Communicate with project offices, PNGO staff and local stakeholders to support health
    and WASH related activities

Job Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or relevant field
  • At least two-year experience in INGO/NGO in public health or WASH related project
  • Knowledge of project implementation in health sector
  • Good analytical and networking skills
  • Ability to work in team
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure with a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with relevant information technology
