Location: Balkumari, Lalitpur

Brief Position Description: Founded in 1991, Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level leading NGO working in Nepal from local to global level with feminist values to support and bridge collective actions for women rights and feminist movement. Together with collaborators from a diverse range of feminist human rights movements and networks, WOREC works to advance the rights of women in diversity. WOREC advocates for affirmative structural and social changes influencing national and international actors. WOREC works for the protection and promotion of women’s human rights and social justice with the campaigns against violence against women, and women’s economic, social and cultural rights. WOREC is active nation-wide by its presence with central office in Lalitpur, provincial and district offices in 6 provinces. WOREC is currently looking for a dynamic and competent candidate to fulfill the position of Database and Research Officer at Central Office based in Balkumari, Lalitpur.

The Database Officer (PO) reports directly to Knowledge Management and Communication Coordination and works in close coordination with Knowledge Management unit and Theme Leaders. The Database and Research officer takes lead role and works in close coordination with the District Coordinators, Field program officers and other staffs in achieving the goal and objectives of program as well as WOREC. She/he is mainly responsible for Data analysis and management, reporting, documenting, record keeping and provide the orientation with district database team.

Job Description:

  • Maintain up-to-date databases as required, including across relevant programs and supporting all relevant departments / units and also maintain its standard
  • Enter, compile and analyze the collected data through GBVIMS and SPSS and other database software.
  • Prepare monthly Violence against Women (VAW), Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) and Human Rights violation statistics and press statement of each month.
  • Collect the data methodologically and analyze regularly for ANWESHI and other publications of WOREC and coordinate with publication and documentation team.
  • Collect all documents needed for the database and enter each right holders/service receiver’s information and support to produce the campaign- based advocacy paper.
  • Gather and compile all the information/ data from the district about the programs, services provide by safe house, counseling centers, legal aid support and overall organizational work on monthly, quarterly and half yearly and annual basis from districts and record on SPSS / GBVIMS and other database software as per the organizational requirement.
  • Regular communication and coordination with the district team, theme leaders and program focal persons.
  • Maintain the data bank for research studies, and publications with maintaining the confidentiality.
  • Preparation of case studies and translation in prior taking consent.
  • Reviews of case records produced by advocates within your team, to ensure that records are up to date, accurate and complete, and verifying its validity and reliability and that confidentiality and data protection is being observed.
  • Providing data for development proposal, program plan and design and explore for suggestion of the new areas of proposal to theme leader.
  • Plan and oversee system design of different databases and proposes technical solutions for consolidation of all data related to the program implementation and functioning.
  • Coordination with various government agencies, non- government organization and various networks that work in the field of human rights, trafficking and social justice.
  • Prepare and submit report according to the requirement of programs
  • Work in close coordination with program team, documentation officer, communication officer and Women Human Right Defenders (WHRDs).
  • Conduct a field visit as per the organizational requirement.
  • Support Publication team as per the need like for Nepali editing, translation.
  • Involve in research forms and formats development, follow-up, date collection and coding & feeding information.
  •  Work as organization assigned as it’s required and Perform the task as assigned by the line manager
    Research
  •  Support in research study associated activities including seeking approval of the research project from the National Health Research Council (NHRC), Family Health Division (FHD) and local municipalities.
  •  Provide technical input on research and assessment works.
  •  Conduct and provide support various types of research (quantitative and qualitative).
  •  Designing / preparing of research plan, questionnaire/ reports and, tabulations
  • Develop, coordinate and oversee field interventions for data collection through different tools and methodologies.
  • Lead and support the analysis of the data and the final organizational and donor report.
  • Prepare work plan and coordinate research studies, and serve as principle administrative liaison for the project, administration of research support staffs as per requirement.
  • Oversee and coordinate the research activities at districts level; provide required supervisory and technical support.
  •  Perform desk review, literature review relevant to the SRHR, GBV, Ecological Justices and other Human Rights issues.
  • Prepare and provide assistant research questionnaire, conceptual framework, consent form and the project briefing note in both English and Nepali.
  • Ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; acts as the primary administrative point of contact for research assistants and as the principle operational liaison for other research organizations, funding agencies and regulating bodies.
  • Follow the organizational policies including Gender Equality, PSEAH, Child Protection and practices in order to ensure the assertive and safe working environment.
  • Support organization on all aspects where and when required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, statistics, business administration or business management or related field with at least three year of experience in similar position.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, especially Excel, Power point, Pivot Table
  •  Data analysis software knowledge like SPSS , MIS system.
  •  Good attention to detail, working to a high level of accuracy.
  •  Ability to adapt to new packages related to databases, willing to learn new things and develop new skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality, safety with sensitive data and information.
  • Ability to establish good working environment and lead the team.
  •  Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
