JOB OPPORTUNITY

Community Improvement Center (CIC) is a non-governmental organization working in rural and need-based community with the prime objective of promoting social, economic and environmental development through rights-based and participatory process. CIC together with Habitat for Humanity Nepal is going to implement Safe & Durable Bamboo Housing Solutions for Eastern Nepal, Resilient Inclusive Sustainable Eastern Nepal (RISEN), Home Equal Campaign and Empowering Indigenous & Dalit Communities of Nepal through Safe Shelter Project in Dhanusha District. Thus, CIC invites applications from suitable and qualified Nepali candidates for the following full time position.

1. Legal Advisor – 1 (Based in Dhanusha District)

Key Responsibilities: Legal Adviser is responsible to support National Land Commission and Local Government for process facilitation for providing land certificates to land less people. S/he support capacity building of Municipal facilitation committees, raises awareness on land certificate access and support for land classification. S/he closely work with Local Government and National Land Commission, Dhanusha District.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Law with at least 3 years work experience in housing rights, Land advocacy or project management including planning, monitoring and reporting. Good Knowledge and understanding on land advocacy, land commission procedure, land and housing rights related local issues, safe shelter.


2. Project Officer/DRR – 1 (Based in Dhanusha District)

Key Responsibilities: Purpose of the position is to implement RISEN project activities in the field in close coordination and collaboration with Local Government. S/he will be responsible to ensure project interventions are timely and effectively implemented in compliance with planning and expected results. Support effective coordination and collaboration with local government and other organization in the project area and facilitate to formulate inclusiveness DRR plan, guideline and policies; S/he will organize periodic community level meetings to ease formation and strengthening of Inclusive Local Disaster Management Committee (LDMC), Ward Level Disaster Management Committee (WDMC), Community Disaster Management Committees (CDMC) at Municipality and ward level; Organize training and visit, facilitate LDMC, WDMC& CDMC meeting, and other works in relation to Habitat’s Project; Ensure the linkages with the climate change, Gender, Disability and diversity within DRR plan and actions; Ensure consultation with various stakeholders on variety of disaster management activities; Support in managing budget, work planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of DRR activities in the local level; S/he will work closely with CDMC, WDMC and LDMC and municipality and repot to CIC management. S/he track activities delivery as per the plan and prepare Monthly, Quarterly and Final report and timely submit to relevant agencies.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in disaster risk reduction, Social Science, Environmental science, humanitarian or development related field with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in DRR/Climate Change or master’s degree with at least 1 year experience in the same as Bachelors. Knowledge in gender and disability inclusion is highly preferred. Have excellent computer skills, strong coordination and communication skills, willingness to travel and stay in rural areas, ability to work under pressure. Local language is preferable.
