JOB OPPORTUNITY

Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Research and Development (CIPRED) is a research-based organization, established with main purpose of research and documentation of Indigenous Peoples’ customary institution and self-governance systems, how it has become a basis for Indigenous knowledge, cultural values and practices that contribute for sustainable resource management, protection of biodiversity and traditional livelihoods. The working modality of CIPRED is based on Indigenous Peoples’ Sustainable and Self-Determined Development (IPSSDD) principles in Nepal, in coordination and collaboration with ELATIA partners in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

CIPRED is implementing Rights-Based Conservation modalities with recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ rights in line with Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) of CBD-15 and is looking for potential candidates as follows:

Project Coordinator 1 (Based in Kathmandu/ full time)
Field Coordinator/ MEAL 1 (Based in field/ part time)
Project/ Communication Officer 1 (Based in Kathmandu/ full time)

Project Coordinator – 1

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with concerned stakeholders and team members.
  • Explore innovative ideas for concept note, proposals and effective implementation of the project activities in harmonic relation with positive mindset among project team members.

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Indigenous study, Sociology, Anthropology or Natural Resource Management with minimum 7-10 years of experience in the relevant fields.
  • Sound knowledge on the issues and concerns of Indigenous Peoples’ rights in relation to conservation, environment and development.
  • Rich working experience on Indigenous and community led rights-based approach of research, documentation and development.
  • Ability to work independently, good team player, meet deadlines, conflict resolution and cope with unforeseen circumstances.
  • Fluent in both Nepali and English professional speaking and writing. Additional local language is given priority.

Field Coordinator/MEAL – 1

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee overall field-level activities.
  • Coordinate and communicate among local leaders, elected bodies, and customary leaders to enhance for the recognition of customary institutions and assurance of rights-based conservation.
  • Provide technical support, necessary guidance and building harmonic work relation among field staff and other project team members.
  • Explore innovative ideas for concept note, proposals and effective implementation of the project activities in harmonic relation with positive mindset among project team members.
  • Develop, implement and update monitoring, evaluation and learning of the project progress.
  • Frequent field visits and prepare necessary reports.

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Indigenous study, Sociology, Anthropology, or Natural Resource Management with minimum 12-15 years of experience in the relevant fields.
  • Sound knowledge on the issues and concerns of Indigenous Peoples’ rights in relation to conservation, environment and development.
  • Rich working experience on Indigenous and community led rights-based approach of research, documentation and development.
  • Ability to work independently, good team player, meet deadlines, conflict resolution and cope with unforeseen circumstances.
  • Fluent in both Nepali and English professional speaking and writing. Additional local language is given priority.
  • Data capturing and documentation skills.

Project Officer – 1

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for the implementation of the project activities.
  • Collect disaggregated data and maintain database for reporting purposes.
  • Support in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with concerned stakeholders and team members
  • Explore innovative ideas for concept note, proposals and effective implementation of the project activities in harmonic relation with positive mindset among project team members.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of experience or Master’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in Indigenous study, Sociology, Anthropology, Natural Resource Management or relevant fields.
  • Sound knowledge on the issues and concerns of Indigenous Peoples’ rights in relation to conservation, environment and development.
  • Rich working experience on Indigenous and community led rights-based approach of research, documentation and development.
  • Ability to work independently, good team player, meet deadlines and cope with unforeseen circumstances.
  • Fluent in both Nepali and English professional speaking and writing. Additional local language is given priority.
