Campaigns & Education Associate

Duty Station : Kathmandu
Major Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Campaigns and Education Officer, the Campaigns & Education Associate will be responsible for WWF Nepal’s conservation education and campaign programs that includes school outreach and the Generation Green (TGG) youth engagement programs. S/he will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of various environment education programs, campaign plan and strategies, including outreach, partnership development and monitoring of programs under the portfolio on a regular basis. Coordinating with school principals, teachers, college network and all stakeholders for successful implementation of programs with regular visits to the field will be necessary.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree, preferably in environmental sciences, education, or social sciences with at least 2 years of experience in working with children and young people, preferably in the environment domain. The candidate is expected to understand the education system and knowledge of areas related to environmental science. The ideal candidate for this position should have a high level of attention to detail as well as enthusiasm for his/her work and the organization. Good skills in Microsoft office programs along with excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills is required. Strong IT skills especially in designing tools is desirable. S/he should be effectively able to prioritize and work under time constraints, using initiative and judgement.


Program Associate – Freshwater

Duty Station : Karnali Corridor, Kailali
Major Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of Head of Freshwater Programs, the Program Associate – Freshwater will be responsible for providing technical inputs and implementation of the water related projects that contribute to the WWF’s Freshwater Goal. S/he will support the Freshwater team in areas related to protecting, restoring, and managing critical freshwater ecosystem, conserving freshwater biodiversity, water stewardship, watershed management, water resources management practices prevailing in Nepal, water governance and river connectivity. The position is based in the Karnali Corridor, Kailali and works in Terai Arc Landscape.

Qualifications: A Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science/Management, Aquatic Ecology, Fisheries, Natural Resources, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in implementing projects related to freshwater species conservation, freshwater habitat conservation and environment. Experience in working with governments, civil society, and NGOs and proven track record and skills in social mobilization and working with communities is desirable. This position requires strong organizational skills, interpersonal and diplomatic skills. Effective communication skills including written and spoken English. S/he should be effectively able to prioritize and work under time constraints, using initiative and judgement. A self-starter with ability to take initiative as needed and work well under minimal supervision.


Program Associate – Wildlife Trade Monitoring

Duty Station : Chitwan (Project site)
Major Responsibilities: The Program Associate- Wildlife Trade Monitoring will be responsible for the implementation of anti-poaching and illegal wildlife trade control related works in the field under the Wildlife Trade Monitoring Unit of WWF Nepal in close coordination with Livelihoods Specialist and Campaigns & Education Officer of WWF Nepal. S/he will focus on livelihoods, campaigns, and awareness programs with local implementing partners on the project site. S/he will be responsible to coordinate with the TAL (Terai Arc Landscape) office, Protected Areas & Division Forest Offices, Buffer zone User Committees together with Community-Based Anti-Poaching Units (CBAPU), local NGOs/CBOs and partners of TAL. This position is based in the Chitwan project site.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in forestry, NRM, Environment Sciences or related field with at least 2 years of experience in wildlife conservation, natural resource management, livelihoods, campaigns, and awareness. Sound knowledge of wildlife conservation and protected area system including buffer zone program and understanding of livelihoods, campaigns and education programs including community involvement in wildlife crime control and CBAPU is required. Should have good experience and exposure in the sector of youth livelihood, technical training, coordination, linkages along with social mobilization. The candidate should have knowledge of MS Office and good communication skills including written and spoken English. S/he should be effectively able to prioritize and work under time constraints, using initiative and judgement. A self-starter with ability to take initiative as needed and work well under minimal supervision. S/he is required to spend at least 80 % of the time in the field.
