The country strategy is put into action through the implementation of three interrelated program areas defined as follows:

LEARN: the “Education and Skills and Opportunities for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (SOYEE)” program aims to assist vulnerable and excluded girls and young women in adapting and thriving in a changing climate;

LEAD AND DECIDE: the “Youth as Active Drivers of Change and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)” program aims to empower girls and young women in leading change, having control over their bodies and making informed decisions; and

THRIVE: the “Early Childhood Development (ECD), Child Protection and Child Poverty” program enhances vulnerable and excluded children, especially girls, to be valued and cared for without discrimination, fear and any forms of violence.

ROLE PURPOSE

The position will be responsible for the moderation of a safe space created in Facebook under Girls Out Loud project, also implementation, coordination and reporting of the of the Girls Out Loud Project ensuring the quality and timely delivery of the project activities maintaining highest technical quality. She will moderate the private Facebook group (opened only for 13-24 years girls), and administrative support for the project through Plan Country office in coordination with Lead Moderator. She will keep a tab on the group activity and is responsible for the efficient functioning of the Facebook group, just like FB admins. She will support Lead Moderator to develop case studies and document best practices of the project. And also, will be responsible to align the project activities with Plan International Nepal’s various campaign activities. She will be responsible to support youth related programs/initiatives either it would global/regional or national. She will be accountable for the quality implementation of the above in alignment with Plan International’s global strategies/standards and Country Strategy.

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

Under the direct authority of the Campaign Specialist and the considered guidance and support of the Influencing Campaign and Communications Director, the position will be responsible to moderate and manage Girls Out Loud for the period of a year in Nepal. The position will manage the logistics and administrative tasks under campaign activities. The position will be based Country Office with frequent travel to project districts as required.

Best fit: the ideal candidate should have a social, communication or psychology professional profile, previous experience working directly with teenagers and young women. She is familiar with Facebook and has great digital skills.
Implementing locations: Sunsari, Makawanpur, Sindhuli, Bardiya, Kalikot, Jumla, Dolpa, Dhanusa, Pokhara however the nature of project demands the primary work through Country office and it is based on managing social media and administrative work.

Area of responsibility: Planning, implementation, coordination, reporting, monitoring and quality assurance of the project.
Reports: Prepare periodic and final report of the project based on project requirement/project agreement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Result Area 1: Coordination and Project management

  • Prepare detailed monthly content/topics for moderation plan in coordination with Lead Moderator align with project log frame as well as the indicators set up by MERL.
  • Manage the Private Facebook Group by rigorously screening the member requests, curate content, encourage and moderate the discussion, interact in the posts shared by GOL members and provide evidence-based information, facts, and tackle any mis/disinformation.
  • Provide information and orientation on online safety and security to all the members of Girls Out Loud. Offer support and care by answering private questions and concerns shared by GOL members sent via Messenger.
  • Identify child protections issues or other sensitive situations when support is needed, then cooperate with technical advisors (Child Protection advisor, Gender advisor and others) to resolve the situation.
  •  Support planning and facilitation of in-person outreach activities (girls meetups) with the girls in the group. Also, arrange regular meeting with girls (check-in) virtually using Zoom platforms.
  • Document internal and external communication piece including learnings- Case studies, best practices, one-pager, blogs for website
  • Cooperate and share knowledge with the Girls Out Loud National and Global Team. Work with the Lead Moderator to set up data extraction and localisation of the dashboard.
  • Ensure that the local Girls Out Loud initiative and its activities complies with Plan International’s policies and child safeguarding standards
  • Develop a realistic, prioritized, result-based work plan & budget forecast.
  •  Ensure gender equality and social inclusion perspective in the content planning and execution.
  • Periodically review the monthly/annual/quarterly project plans and budgets and purpose for revision as and when required for effective project implementation.
  • Coordinate with Technical advisors, team members to timely execute approved project activities meeting budget spending.

Result Area 2: Ensure support required to achieve the project outcome

  • Compile and draft qualitative quarterly report as per the guidelines and Global Hub requirements.
  • Be responsible for coordinating to finalize topics for the months, create polls and discussions accordingly and translate the comments and posts in Nepal to English for reporting purpose.
  • Promote and maintain an effective and smooth communication among the GOL Members, the project team, and other departments as required.
  • Coordinate with other team to ensure that the content/topics developed are gender transformative.
  • Coordinate meeting with project team, Technical team from Global hub and other departments as required.
  • Ensure effective real time project monitoring and ensure qualitative, efficient and timely implementation of project in line with approved detail implementation plan.
  •  Contribute towards capitalization of good practices and learning in close coordination with Lead Moderator and ICC team.

Result Area 3: Ensure effective communication and support administrative tasks

  • Support campaign team for effect and meaningful engagement of Girls Out Loud members in Campaign activities.
  • Stay in communication with nominated youths (sponsored children) for their engagement in campaign activities.
  • Arrange logistics and travel arrangements of youths for various events like International Day of Girl Child, Girls in ICT day, MHM day, etc as needed.
  • Support campaign team for preparing safeguarding risk assessment and mitigation plan for each physical or virtual event.
  • Coordinate with regional offices and partner organizations for organize events and workshops.
  • Support campaign team to draft program/event reports.
  • Coordination with YouthHub for effective implementation of their workplan.

Result Area 4: Support youth related programs/initiatives: Youth Project 2023

  • Engaging youth activists from Plan International Nepal’s working district and ensure they are supported to stay engaged throughout the length of the project/campaign.
  • Participate in up to six online workshops alongside young people from Indonesia and Australia .
  • Complete work outside of online workshops, including research design, data collection and analysis, report writing and campaign planning and execution.
  •  Communicating key dates, tasks and timelines to youth activists, making sure they are supported to meet agreed deadlines.
  •  Admin tasks, such as contracting consultants or paying youth activists data allowances, engaging translation for report and other key documents, engaging an interpreter for the workshops, collecting and storing consent forms, inputting into risk assessments etc.
  • Organising and facilitating meetings outside the joint online workshops with youth activists, to support youth activists complete key tasks, such as data collection, data analysis, report writing, campaign planning, and campaign execution.
  • Oversee and support youth activists to undertake data collection and analysis to inform the final report.
  • Oversee and support youth activists to write sections of the report.
  • Oversee and support youth activists to design and implement a campaign, alongside young people from Indonesia and Australia.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2-3 years of experience in use of social media for awareness, communication, learning and wider dissemination.
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management in development sector- Gender equality and SRHR preferable.
  • Experience of working with girls and young women and communicating information using online platforms
  • Work with UN/I/NGO in similar capacity is preferred
  • Proven experience in program development, management, including scheduling, budget development and budget management
  •  Proven experience of similar project using social and digital media approaches. Skills
