JOB OPPORTUNITY

Research Officer-Quantitative

The Health Inequality & Resilience Research Institute (HIRRI) is a newly established, mental health research organization based in Kageshwori Manohara, Kathmandu, Nepal. Our mission is to advance scientific understanding of how childhood adversity and social determinants affect mental health in Nepal’s young population. Through cutting-edge research, quantitative analysis, and international collaboration, we aim to generate evidence that informs policies and programs to foster resilience and well-being.

HIRRI, in partnership with the Health and Development Society Nepal and Charles Sturt University (Australia), is currently conducting multiple studies on mental health, childhood adversity, and resilience among children and young adults across Nepal. These studies involve large-scale datasets collected through surveys, longitudinal studies, administrative records, and community-based fieldwork.

We are seeking a highly motivated, quantitatively skilled Research Officer to join our growing scientific team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a researcher passionate about data analysis, statistical modelling, and high-quality scientific publication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality quantitative data analysis using advanced statistical methods.
  • Develop and implement the data analysis plan using statistical software (R, Stata, or Python).
  • Manage and clean large datasets to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to research design, development of data collection tools, and statistical analysis plans.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team to integrate quantitative findings with broader research objectives.
  • Participate in field visits to support data collection, monitoring, and quality control as needed.
  • Maintain clear and thorough documentation of data management and analysis processes.

Eligibility and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (or near completion) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Psychology, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong applied skills in quantitative research methods and statistical modelling.
  • Experience with statistical programming software (R, Stata, SAS, or Python) is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to scientific publications, reports, or technical papers.
  • Interest in mental health, resilience research, and health inequality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to field sites for data coordination and quality assurance.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are requested to submit:

  • A two-page CV (including a list of publications or manuscripts in progress)
  • A one-page cover letter highlighting their quantitative research experience and fit for this role.

Applications should be completed by 29 June, 2025.
