Hami DajuVai (HDV) is a feminist organization that engages men and boys in building a gender-just society. HDV aims to transform patriarchy into equality by integrating intersectionality widely through the engagement of men, boys, and young people, while promoting women’s leadership. The ultimate goal of HDV is to build a gender-just society and foster an equal and prosperous society where all people enjoy their rights, opportunities and live dignified lives, while addressing patriarchal masculinity and patriarchal structures through intersectional approaches.

HDV is currently a part of a consortium project on security and justice where its role is to work as a technical partner ensuring men’s engagement and transforming patriarchal masculinity to end violence against women and girls. The project expects the transformation of patriarchal masculinity and harmful social norms and behaviours from family to community. HDV’s role is to work as a technical lead on men and boys’ engagement and addressing harmful masculinity and contribute to the dissemination of its learning and impacts. Hence, HDV is looking for candidates for the following position.

Introduction to the Role

The person holding this role will lead provincial coordination under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager. S/he will work in close collaboration with the provincial partner, provincial government and local government including local CBOs with a key focus on men and boys’ engagement, dismantling and addressing patriarchal Masculinity and dissemination of its learning and impact. The position holder is expected to support the provincial partner and create liaison between provincial and local government and HDV. The Project Officer is also expected to document and prepare activity reports including assessing and researching various initiatives happening in the province in relation to the project. The person will work as a project focal point on behalf of HDV to liaise with our partner and government agencies in Madhesh Province under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with local and provincial government for the effective implementation of project activities in close coordination with partner organizations
  • Review, assess, and research work around Men and Masculinity, Social and Behaviour Change and Social Norms, analyze and share the learning and possibilities
  • Facilitate training and interaction classes/sessions on issues related to GBV and GEDSI issues
  • Plan and implement project activities aligned with project objectives as per the detailed implementation plan
  • Ensure quality project implementation, budget tracking and support provincial implementing partners and office team as and when required
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external visits (e.g., government office, donor, SWC etc.)
  • Maintain good communication with all partners and concerned stakeholders
  • Prepare timely project progress reports ensuring their quality
  • Ensure mainstreaming of GEDSI in project implementation
  • Ensure that internal databases and monitoring information are kept fully up-to-date
  • Any other tasks required by the organization as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience working as a project officer in gender equality, social inclusion, masculinity studies, and men’s engagement initiatives. Experience should specifically include work on social and behavior change programming and addressing harmful social norms
  • Experience in facilitation of training and workshops on Gender and GEDSI issues
  • Experience in developing and organizing participatory training and workshops
  • Experience in supporting the development of projects, programmes and campaigns
  • Prior research skills would be an advantage

Additional Skills:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali
  • Knowledge of local language(s) of Madhesh Province will be an advantage
  • Good understanding of SBCC and social norms dynamics around gender and masculinity in the cultural and social context of Madhesh Province
  • Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with diverse groups of people from different cultural

contexts

  • Strong project implementation skills
  • Willingness to travel to field stations
  • Preference will be given to local candidates residing near the duty station and those with a 2-wheeler license
