Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS) Nepal is a non-profit making non-governmental-organization founded in 1996. Since then, SAHAS Nepal has been engaging in social mobilization, grassroots organisation/Community-Based Network Organisation (CBNO) formation and enhancing their capacity through partnership and implementing diverse programme and projects in the sectors of sustainable agriculture and food security, climate change and education in 21 districts of Nepal.
SAHAS Nepal will be implementing the project “Preparing communities and local leaders towards climate-Resilience, disaster Preparedness, Anticipatory actions, and early Recovery (PREPARE)” in the two districts of Lumbini province namely, Rajpur Rural Municipality and Lamahi Municipality in Dang and Raptisonari Municipality and Duduwa Rural Municipality in Banke districts. The aim of the project is to enhance the vulnerable and marginalized communities in Lumbini Province are resilient in the face of climate-induced disasters.
SAHAS Nepal is looking for youth, energetic candidates the following position in this project.
Project Officer
Required number: 2
Location: Banke and Dang districts
Academic qualification/experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture/environment science/development studies and social work from recognized university with at least three years’ experience
- Experience in technology efficiency test, climate change, disaster preparedness, resilience livelihood and agriculture
- Good skill in community development, empowerment, networking, lobby and advocacy
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge on financial management and staff supervision and development
- Good coordination, communication with community and different stakeholders
- Fluent in oral and written Nepali and English language
- Good coordination skills and efficient team player
Major responsibilities:
- Coordinate the implementation of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change activities,
- working closely with the national and local stakeholders
- Explore guidelines and data set related to the management of climate change and disaster preparedness
- Capacity building of the staffs and the supports to the projects for implementing climate change, DRR programs
- SAMBAD (adolescent group) formations, mobilization and youth development
- Provide technical support to the district project team in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the field activities in line with the project goal and objectives
- Keep all the project staffs updated on project requirement, implementation guideline, tools and procedure for their understanding and use
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually report to the focal person
- Review project budget, track the expenditure of budget regularly
- Organise review meeting of the project at district, identify the gaps and issues and take the action accordingly for the further improvement
- Coordinate with Municipalities, Rural Municipality level line agencies and organizations to develop the project related activities.
- Assist in the financial and administrative matter such as procurement process, human resource management and staff performance evaluation with capacity building
