Women Forum for Women in Nepal (WOFOWON) is a Non-Governmental Organization Working on ensuring the human rights and labor rights of women workers working in the Hospitality and entertainment sector (Dohori, Sajh Dance Bar, Spa/Massage, Cabin Restaurant, Cafeteria). Established in 2064 by workers working in the hospitality and Entertainment sector, WOFOWON is not only the first organization in Nepal working on The rights and campaign of women workers but also a powerful organization. The Organization is currently inviting applications from qualified women of all backgrounds, including hospitality and entertainment workers, women from sexual and gender Minorities and marginalized groups, to apply for the position of Program Officer (PO).
Program Officer
Reports to: Program Coordinator and ED
Supervisory Responsibility: National and District Identity Network, members, staff, peer Educators, and Groups under other organizations.
Location: Kathmandu
Required Position: 1 (Female, LGBTQI only, Hospitality, Entertainment Sector Workers)
Duty Station and Work Station: Initially up to 31st December 2025 and possibilities of extension upon the performance, Kathmandu with frequent travel to implementing areas.
Salary & Benefits: As per the organizational rule for this position.

Job Summary
The experienced and skilled applicant will work with our committed organization’s office and the Secretariat of the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders, the Secretariat of the National and District Identity Networks under the organization, including members, to strengthen the labor and human rights of women workers in the hospitality and entertainment sector, women’s organizational power, cross-movement unity and actions, and advocate for sustainable development and social justice. Our organization is looking for a skilled Program Officer with experience and a feminist perspective to join our team.
The candidate we are looking for should be an articulate speaker, knowledgeable, skilled and energetic in advocacy and advocacy for the sustainable development of the organization “Leadership and Capacity Building of Women and Girls Working in the Entertainment Sector” and should be able to play a supportive role in building their dream of a golden future.
This project focuses on advancing the labor and human rights and labor rights of women workers. The position will also contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and plans. The position will report to the Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Executive Director based on the needs of the organization.
Selection Criteria:
- A minimum of five (3) years of experience in women’s human rights, labor rights or social movements, working with relevant stakeholders at national, local, and provincial levels or at the international level, is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in social and political science, law, human rights, development or women’s studies.
- Knowledge of international human rights and development issues, particularly in the history and trends of labor movements and labor unions in Asia and the Pacific.
- Experience and knowledge of organizing, mobilizing and negotiating strategies to advance social and feminist movements, particularly around labor and women’s labor rights at the national, regional and global levels.
- Strong understanding and expertise in mobilizing for development justice in the field of women workers, unions and the region.
- Experience and expertise in working with movement-based organizations such as feminist movements, unions, workers, various campaigns, marginalized working class campaigns, LBTQI or other movements,
- Experience and knowledge of coordinating intra-movement campaigns, solidarity actions or advocacy.
- Experience in research skills, and the ability to analyze and critique economic, social and development policies in relation to workers’ issues.
- Experience and knowledge of participatory data collection and analysis and participatory facilitation skills with grassroots organizations and their communities,
- Strong coordination/teamwork skills, both within and across teams.
- Knowledge of project management, including program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, membership-driven networks and their partners.
- Excellent command of English and Nepali, both verbal and written; ability to write and present for movements as well as program reports and project proposals.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to network in a multicultural environment and develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders,
- Proficient ice material production writing and editing skills including the ability to coordinate publication work in various formats and media, from program materials to production work.
- Knowledge of using online common platforms such as social media is preferred.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the program work plan and budget in accordance with WOFOWON strategic plan, institutional strategy, finance policy and guidelines,
- Take responsibility for program activities (training, documentation, research, consultation, implementation, monitoring and various work with workers in the community) based on the program’s annual and quarterly work plan and the overall organization’s strategic plan.
- Provide support to various committees, network members and other organizations involved in the program, including maintaining regular and secure communication between network members or partners (including email, video calls, telephone calls, etc.).
- Manage and coordinate the participation of members and organizations, networks participating in program activities (including financial support for participants outside Kathmandu or other locations at meetings) as well as support coordination with worker members to strengthen advocacy opportunities at local, national and international levels.
- Facilitate the publication of key knowledge tools and resources that can be led by the campaign or conducted in collaboration with other Wofowon programs and workers.
- Advise program and staff, fellow teachers, program assistants, interns, volunteers and support staff Supervise.
- Manage project implementation: planning, implementation monitoring, reporting and evaluation of activities.
- Engage in policy advocacy and lobbying at various levels, and conduct meetings and training as planned.
- Translate (oral and written) from Nepali to English and vice versa as per the needs and direction of the organization.
- To strengthen the organization and network, write and submit proposals to various supporting organizations and the government in English and Nepali,
- Must have respect for all work and a positive attitude towards work.
- Must be able to manage and work effectively in difficult situations.
- Must comply with the rules and regulations of the organization.
