Our Sansar is a charity dedicated to providing education, shelter, and welfare to the most disadvantaged children in Nepal. Our primary work is focused on Madhesh Pradesh. We assist children who have experienced poverty, abuse, neglect, child labour.
Role Description
We are looking for our Education Coordinator to start as soon as possible. The role would suit someone with teaching and community coordination experience. The Education Coordinator will work within our main EmpowerHER Programme with a focus on the End to Child Marriage component. The programme is centred in Janakpur with work both in Janakpur and nearby villages in the Mahottari district.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all girls within the End to Child Marriage project are receiving education – liaise with our teachers and schools, ensure that the girls and teachers are attending the classes on time and regularly, check on the girls’ educational progress, assist the teachers with the curriculum development and lesson planning when needed
- Ensure all the girls and women receive relevant training and are set up with work opportunities – oversee the training, scheduling and monitor the results
- Liaise with the families and our Outreach Staff, gather feedback and work towards improving the programme as needed
- Update the case studies and any relevant community surveys’ details on the system
- Coordinate monthly parents meetings and regular teachers’ meetings
- Assist with community training when needed
- Prepare monthly progress reports
- Ensure all girls are admitted into regular school after our transitional classes
- Assist with the classes for the girls at the Safe House when required
- Prepare monthly cashbooks and budgets
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience of teaching in formal settings and of community coordination (this could be in different settings, any coordination, planning, project management, working with different types of communities experience)
- Experience in Training and development
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Experience working with girls from different backgrounds will be a big advantage
- Excellent knowledge of Nepali and English languages. Knowledge of Maithili highly beneficial but not compulsory
- Professional experience working with Excel, Word, Google Drive
- Passion for charity work
Salary: 30,000 Rs salary, accommodation (in Janakpur), food, health insurance, opportunities to grow with the organisation.
