Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Visa Assistant (Non-immigrant Visa). This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible for processing machine-readable Non-immigrant visa (NIV) applications ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and quality control of NIV applications. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining high levels of customer service, the utmost standards of ethics and integrity, and internal best practices for ensuring the complete accuracy of all information on visa applications, printed visas, and boarding foils. When needed, the incumbent provides back-up support to other units in the Consular Section.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements: EXPERIENCE: Two years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative, governmental, or para-professional field is required.

Education Requirements: Completion of two years of college level studies is required.

Evaluations: These may be tested (Language, Skills and Abilities):

LANGUAGE: Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. Fluent speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good interpersonal skills are required. The ability to work under pressure is required. The ability to use Windows based computer applications such as MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel is required.
