Technical Advisor, COVID-19 response

Job Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

The Technical Advisor, COVID-19 response is responsible for leading and managing all COVID-19-related program activities under FHI 360 Nepal/EpiC Nepal. The Technical Advisor works closely with the FHI 360 Nepal/EpiC Nepal Program, Technical, Strategic Behavioral Communication (SBC), Strategic Information (SI), Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSM) and other specialized units including other projects and provides technical assistance to FHI 360 implementing partner agencies, the Government of Nepal and other collaborating partners in a structured, systematic and effective manner to plan, implement and monitor COVID-19 response activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to COVID-19 response and program activities of FHI 360/EpiC Nepal.
  • Provide continuous technical assistance to improve infection prevention and control (IPC) through proper health care waste management, maintain COVID-19 testing, genomic sequencing in country, risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), specially for COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Support and facilitate procurement, distribution and tracking of COVID-19-related supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Support in Government of Nepal in COVID-19 vaccination program by supporting in vaccination camps, strengthening cold chain systems for vaccine storage and delivery and through period reviews of COVID-19 vaccination program.
  • Support to keep track of COVID-19 status, analyze vaccination situation and ensure complete reporting into the system.
  • Manage technical support from HQ in consultation and coordination with country director and project director.
  • Ensure timely completion of all project milestones as defined in the approved workplan and report to EpiC Nepal and USAID on the same through routine check-in calls and periodic reports.
  • Oversee / work with other local EpiC Nepal consultants and staff members to ensure completion of tasks assigned as per their consultancy agreements.
  • Ensure all planned project events are completed on time adhering to the organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor and Country Director.

Requirements:

  • Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or related field with three to five years of work experience,.
  •  Medical degree with MPH will be an asset.
  • Previous public health experience working in the COVID-19 response and/or vaccination campaign and health care waste management as well as health emergency preferred.
  • Proactive and independent approach to work with willingness to undertake additional responsibilities.
  • Experience in working effectively across various teams within the project and organization, and building and sustaining positive working relationships with NGOs, private sectors, government, and other stakeholders.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing, and working in virtual work environment, and flexible and open for managing time for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation and presentation skills.
