This project will be able to support victims and survivors of human trafficking for their economic empowerment and re-integration which helps to reduce the human trafficking and aware people about the importance of economic re-integration including related stakeholders. The project also aims in advocating for incorporating economic re-integration of trafficking survivors as a policy in national, provincial and local level body so that more number of survivors can be benefitted in the future.

Experience Required        :  Minimum 3 years in NGO sector
Reports to                           :   Managing Director

Job Description

Duty station: Kathmandu, with 20% travel to project sites and partner organizations.
Estimated start date: as soon as possible

This position holder will be a part of the Management Team of Sunita Foundation. Under the direct supervision of the Managing Director, the holder of this position will oversee that administrative, accounting, legal, and financial procedures and tools used in Sunita Foundation are up to highest standards.

Core functions / responsibilities:

Finance and Compliance

  •  Lead the overall operations of the Finance & Administration Department to ensure accurate and timely reporting to Managing Director and donors.
  • Manage cash flow of Sunita Foundation and recommend ways to minimize cash related risks by adopting online banking services
  •  Prepare monthly financial reports for submission to SF management.
  •  Strictly review and approve expenses
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports, statutory reports including all the taxes
  • Lead the budget development, budget planning, budget review and monitoring process with Managing Director and share the report with  Managing Director
  • Ensure that policies, processes, and manuals are up to date and relevant to Sunita Foundation operations
  •  Ensure that accounting entries and financial reports are in compliance with Nepal
  •  Accounting Standard, funder regulations and local laws
  •   Plan and coordinate internal and external audits and also develop & implement actions plans to remediate audit findings
  •  Taking pre approval of Managing Director before conducting any activities

Fixed Assets

  • Along with Procurement Committee, ensure the development of and implement policies, systems and procedures to identify, record, value, depreciate, account and report on fixed assets
  •  Ensure consolidation of fixed asset information to enable a complete and accurate record of the identification, location and value of fixed assets.
  •  Carryout capital expenditure reconciliation to determine assets to be capitalized in a timely manner and amounts to be written off.

Other

  • Coach, train, counsel, and advise staff on finance related rules and procedures
  • Coordinate routinely with other departments to ensure effective and timely function and teamwork in finance, grant, and procurement and logistics functions.
  • Any other function as advised by Managing Director

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A deep understanding of the NGO including statutory environment of Nepal
  • Experience working as a finance and admin head with strong finance oversight required
  • Prior knowledge of donor regulations such as EU, USAID etc.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members
  •  Strong skills in financial analysis and reporting
  • Strong data collection, problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate financial monitoring skills of communities through capacity building efforts
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate & coordinate effectively including non- finance personnel
  • Ability to provide ideas and recommendations to resolve issues
  • High level of integrity and commitment to professional responsibilities
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
