ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for over three decades. It places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains; natural resources management and biodiversity conservation; and enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

ANSAB is seeking a young and talented candidate, eager to learn and make an impact in the development sector, for the position of Senior Officer – GESI. The main role of this position is to support the planning and implementation of the GESI strategy in ANSAB. S/he will assess and identify key GESI issues, and provide support on mainstreaming GESI issues in program development & implementation. More specifically, this position will undertake the following specific roles, including but not limited to.

Roles and Responsibilities

Planning and Policy Development:

  • Lead GESI initiatives at ANSAB that adds value and have meaningful impact;
  • Develop and implement the GESI action plans for ANSAB’s different programs;
  • Ensure GESI inclusiveness in project proposals and designs, and provide technical inputs to strategically integrate GESI mainstreaming and transformative approaches;
  • Provide advisory support to project teams and senior management on gender and social inclusion matters;
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance the organization’s approach to gender and social inclusion.

Capacity Building:

  • Design and conduct training programs for partners, local communities, project beneficiaries’ groups and other relevant stakeholders on GESI;
  • Orient and/or build capacity of the program teams on GESI related interventions;
  • Develop educational materials and resources to raise awareness, and build capacity on gender and social inclusion issues.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of gender and social inclusion initiatives;
  • Support the program team to develop GESI responsive guidelines, tools, checklists or other relevant materials;
  • Collect and analyze data on gender and social inclusion to guide program adjustments and improvements;
  • Prepare reports and documentation on the progress and outcomes of gender and social inclusion activities;
  • Conduct study, and document the best practices on gender and social inclusion trends and emerging issues.

Advocacy and Networking:

  • Serve as a GESI focal point for any gender and social inclusion related enquiries (external and/or internal);
  • Represent ANSAB in relevant forums, networks, and working groups focused on gender and social inclusion;
  • Advocate for gender and social inclusion issues within the organization and with external stakeholders;
  • Establish network, and maintain partnerships with other GESI Experts working in the same field.

Qualification and Experience

Education:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Gender Studies, Development Studies) or Natural Sciences (e.g., Forestry, Agriculture), or other relevant disciplines.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in gender and social inclusion, including at least 2 years of experience in environment or natural resource sector.
  • Proven experience in implementing gender responsive and inclusive policies and programs.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of gender equality and social inclusion principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
