Organization: PHASE Nepal

PHASE Nepal is a not for profit NGO established in 2006 by a group of development professionals dedicated to supporting poor communities in remote areas of Nepal. For the last 12 years, PHASE Nepal has been implementing Health, Education, and Livelihoods improvement programs in Humla, Bajura, Mugu, Gorkha, Kathmandu, and Sindhupalchok districts. Currently, PHASE Nepal’s projects in health, education, livelihoods, DRR, and research are funded by the number of institutional and individual donors from different countries. Currently, PHASE has over 140 staff working on different projects and growing.

Recently PHASE has received a funding from the Sheffield Institute of International Development (SIID), the University of Sheffield, UK to develop the Research Capacity of staff working with PHASE and possible other funding to implement liveilhoods project in Gorkha district. PHASE would like to invite applications from qualified and experienced candidates interested to work as a trainer/research lead, Gaupalika coordinator, JTA/Suboverseer/Senior social mobilizer or HR officer as described below:

Position: Gaunpalika Coordinator – 8

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and maintain working relation and effective communication with Gaupalika officials and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Disseminate project information to relevant stakeholders in assigned Gaupalika.
  •  Collect secondary information about vulnerable population in assigned Gaupalika.
  •  Facilitate collection of information about most vulnerable people in the assigned Gaupalika using relevant research tools such as household survey, focus group discussion, Key informant interview or any other relevant tools.
  • Organize and facilitate Gaupalika and ward level meetings to disseminate survey information and validation.
  •  Facilitate for selection of beneficiaries through based on vulnerability criteria in close coordination with project manager.
  • Plan and implement activities with selected beneficiaries.
  •  Coordinate with Gaupalika officials to improve access to services to the vulnerable people
  • Oversee the project areas, including focus on safety, quality and project schedule requirements.
  • Prepare and submit field visit reports, monthly and quarterly project progress reports, technical progress reports and financial reports to the project manager.
  • Assist to project manager and coordinate with different functions of central office to implement the activities as per the budget and plan.
  • Supervise and mobilize social mobilizers in mobilizing. communities sand workers group throughout project period.
  •  Provide project update, progress to Gaupalika and other stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or above in any discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in coordinating and managing similar activities with demonstrable record of accomplishment of best performance. Must have a good computer skill.
  •  Gross salary including all benefits: Nrs 55,000-70,000 per month depending upon remoteness of the working area.
  •  Duty Station: One of Gandaki, Ajirkot, Dharche and Tsumnubri Gaunpalika in Gorkha District.
  • Duration of the post: Two years.

Position: JTA

JTA / Sub Overseer / Senior Social Mobilizer – 26 (total including all three categories)

Job Description:

  • Support Gaupalika coordinator in coordination, planning and implementation of project activities.
  •  Support in collection of secondary information on vulnerable people in assigned project area.
  •  Collect information on vulnerable people using decided survey tools.
  •  Facilitate selection of beneficiaries based on selection criteria for on farm, off farm activities or skill development or other relevant support.
  •  Plan and facilitate implementation of activities relevant to the circumstances of beneficiaries to help improve their livelihoods.
  •  Organize and facilitate capacity development activities to the selected beneficiaries.
  •  Organize regular meeting and build sound relationship with beneficiaries and other community level relevant stakeholders.
  • Should have practical knowledge and skill of the preparation of organic manure, alternative irrigation technologies, vegetable production under plastic tunnel, mushroom farming, dual purpose poultry birds and improved goats, improved shed of goats, improve grass, and fertilizers, insecticides and livestock disease control.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills to deliver agricultural/livestock training in community.
  •  Prepare timely and comprehensive reports of all activities in PHASE formats as required

Job Description:

  •  Support in information collection about vulnerable people in assigned project area.
  •  Carryout construction needs assessment for small scale infrastructures for improving access to people with disability.
  •  Provide technical ideas including cost estimation and other support to the selected people for small scale construction.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment required in the field for the construction of are well receipt, stored and delivered safety in the site.
  • Prepare timely and comprehensive reports of all activities in PHASE formats as required

Position: Senior Social Mobilizer

  •  Support Gaupalika coordinator in coordination, planning and implementation of project activities.
  •  Support in collection of secondary information on vulnerable people in assigned project area.
  •  Collect information on vulnerable people using decided survey tools.
  •  Facilitate selection of beneficiaries based on selection criteria for on farm, off farm activities or skill development or other relevant support.
  •  Plan and facilitate implementation of activities relevant to the circumstances of beneficiaries to help improve their livelihoods, especially skill development.
  •  Organize regular meeting and build sound relationship with beneficiaries and other community level stakeholders.
  •  Should have practical knowledge and skill on off farm skills development especially relevant to the people with different forms of disability.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills to deliver skill development training especially for people with different vulnerability conditions.

Prepare timely and comprehensive reports of all activities in PHASE formats as required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (for JTA, Sub Overseer and Senior Social
mobilizer) :

  • TSLC or + 2 or above pass in social mobilization, business promotion etc. with minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience.
  • Computer skill desirable.
  •  Gross Salary: Nrs 35,000 – 43,000 per month (for JTA, Sub Overseer and Senior Social mobilizer)
  •  Duty Station: different wards of Ajirkot, Dharche, Gandaki and Tsumnubri Gaunpalika of Gorkha District.
  • Duration of the post: Two years

Position: HR Officer – 1

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Be familiar with and explain HR policies, benefits and procedures to employees or job applicants.
2. Monitor and report implementation of the HR policies and procedures to the department head on a regular basis.
3. Process, verify, and maintain documentation during recruitment, selection, hiring, orientation, training, grievances, performance appraisal, transfer, promotion, increment, disciplinary actions, termination or resignation etc.
4. Coordinate with media, advertising agencies, recruitment agencies etc in order to release vacancy advertisement/s as and when required.
5. Conduct preliminary interview of the candidates applying for job and generate a report of each individual applicants as and when required.
6. Maintain up-to- date information of each employees of an organization in their personal file and a comprehensive detail on spreadsheet format in computer in secure way.
7. Gather relevant and necessary employee information from various units/department and record accordingly, including such information as attendance, various leaves, application for leave, facilities etc.
8. Generate a monthly individual report on salary payable including all deductions, keep a record of it and provide it to concerned personnel at finance and accounts department.
9. Mediate in workplace dispute as and when required.
10. Compile different relevant information from various internal and external sources in order to assist HR department to align/update the prevailing HR policies, procedure, forms and format with the change of time, technology, culture, government laws etc.
11. Conduct performance appraisal on a specified date, facilitate the process, record the result and implement the decided reward and other actions.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or above in any field (preferably management).
  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in carrying out HR functions in NGO with demonstrable record of accomplishment of best performance. Must have excellent English and Nepali language and sound computer skills.
  •  Salary: Nrs 44,000 per month (Basic)
  • Duty Station: PHASE Nepal Office Bhaktapur, Nayathimi.
  • Duration of the post: Fixed Term
