Energize Nepal is a program funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway The Program is managed by Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, in partnership with Hydro Lab Pvt. Ltd., Nepal, SINTEF Energy Research (SEfAS), Norway, and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. The Program aims to improve the capacity of research and education required for development of the renewable energy sector in Nepal and the region. The program is expected to continue till December 2024.

IT, Communication and Public Relations Officer (ITCPRO)

Project: EnergizeNepal Program (ENEP)
Position Type: Contract (Full – Time)
Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance)
Stationed at: Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, with field visits as necessary
Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager, ENEP
Salary and Benefits: As per KU rules and regulations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology or Information System Management with proof of knowledge about IT related field or
  • 4 years’ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology or Information System Management with first division in related field with 2 years of work experience or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology or Information System Management with 6 years of work experience in support staff level or above
  • An established track record in communications, media outreach, knowledge dissemination and knowledge management practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Nepali;
  • Previous relevant experience will be of added advantage.

Responsibilities and duties:

The IT, Communication and Public Relations Officer will be responsible for planning, execution and implementation of information and communication strategies to support the core objectives of ENEP. He/she will be responsible collecting, maintaining database and disseminating information on ENEP projects and activities.

  • Managing and periodic update of ENEP website.
  • Social Network Service (SNS) promotion of ENEP activities.
  • Drafting press releases, statements, news summaries and written and electronic materials for dissemination to local and international media, as well as to ENEP’s networks and partners.
  • Writing, editing, designing and producing analytical reports, articles and other publications.
  • Developing and putting into action strategies for establishing and maintaining partnerships with local and international media and updating the databases.
  • Assisting in the implementation of seminars, workshops and meetings, and disseminating information at and on these events;
  • Providing support for the day-to-day administration of ENEP.
  • Any other relevant duties assigned by supervisors

Engineer

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Environmental Engineering (Master’s degree in Business Administration or Management will be of added advantage)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Nepali;
  • Basic knowledge of hydropower and renewable energy sector of Nepal and the region;
  • Previous experience of project management and administration will be of added advantage.

Responsibilities and duties:

The Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day report writing, proposal development, project monitoring and evaluation and other necessary project documentation and administrative activities. He/she will be responsible for collecting, maintaining database and disseminating information on ENEP projects and activities.

  • Planning, execution and monitoring & evaluation of the Business Incubation and other research projects funded by EnergizeNepal Program.
  •  Maintaining and developing framework for the successful implementation of all the funded projects and business incubation.
  • Assisting in the implementation of seminars, workshops and meetings, and disseminating information at and on these events;
  •  Developing event notes, reports, minutes and other necessary documentations of ENEP events.
  • Taking a proactive role in conducting substantive research, analysis and information synthesis on gender, social inclusion and development issues related to the scope of ENEP.
  • Any other duty assigned by supervisors
