The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the position of General Services/Travel Clerk. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Travel Required: Occasional travel may be required.


The incumbent serves as a sub-cashier and timekeeper for the General Services Office and performs administrative and clerical duties. The incumbent also serves as a Government Technical Monitor (GTM) and a travel arranger. The incumbent prepares travel authorizations (TAs) for both domestic and international travel and processes travel vouchers. Additionally, the incumbent holds a Centrally Billed Account (CBA) for charging of air ticketing for official travel. The incumbent also processes visa applications for third-country travel and processes in-country travel and trekking permits.


EXPERIENCE: At least two years of general office/clerical experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of general office procedures, filing systems and the use of various office equipment is required.

Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School is required.


These may be tested ( Language, Skills, and Abilities).

LANGUAGE: Good Working Knowledge of Reading/Writing/Speaking English is required. Fluent Reading/Writing/Speaking Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to use various computer applications such as MS Word, Excel and MS Outlook is required. The ability to draft routine correspondence is required.
