BACKGROUND

Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative of IUCN Nepal and under the direct supervision of the HR Business Partner, IUCN Nepal and functional reporting to the Programme Assistant, the Driver will drive IUCN vehicles safely and soundly and provide safe services to the staff and guests as well as ensure that IUCN vehicles are well maintained.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Drive office staff and guests as per the duty assigned, including field trips.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, servicing etc, and submit a monthly report of the above log to the Head of Administration
  • Oversee all mechanical work needed by IUCN vehicles and ensure that mechanical work done by garages is actually required and is completed satisfactorily at the correct cost
  • Certify the repair works bill for payment
  •  Inform procurement of vehicle spare parts/lubricants to keep them in ready stock. Certify to get vehicle spares parts/lubricants, issued from Store for replacement in the vehicle on need basis.
  • Keep vehicles neat, clean and in good condition and make necessary arrangements for repairing and maintenance in consultation with the Head of Administration
  • Ensure that the steps required by law are followed in case of accidents
  • Ensure that vehicles are parked in secure locations with overnight stay and is involved especially during field trips
  • Undertake other duties as required by the Head of Administration.
  • Perform all assigned office maintenance duties in an efficient and timely manner
  • Undertake photocopying and binding work of documents.
  • Ensure cleanliness of parking premises
  • Relieve guards when necessary, as per the instruction of the Administrative Supervisor
  • Perform the support functions as required at IUCN
  • Make deliveries and run errands as required. Perform other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Literate with good knowledge of road safety
  • A Nepali citizen who has experience of working in development sector for over 5 years of driving in IUCN Nepal field areas
  • Has good knowledge on vehicle maintenance
