Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Consular Investigations Assistant. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Fraud Investigator, the incumbent conducts investigations, interviews, pre-screening and document verification to determine the presence or absence of fraud in suspect U.S. citizenship and visa applications. The incumbent gathers, researches, analyzes, evaluates, and interprets data relating to fraud and fraud trends. The incumbent maintains contacts within various government offices and private organizations for the verification of information alleged in consular applications. As and when needed, the incumbent provides backup support to other units within the Consular Section.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: At least two years of professional experience in investigative and/or visa processing work is required.

Education Requirements:

College or university studies is required.

LANGUAGE: Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. Fluent speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good oral and written communication skills are required. The ability to use various computer applications such as MS Word, MS Outlook and Excel is required. The ability to learn and use proprietary consular systems is required.
