Job Purpose
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) (hosted by International Rice Research Institute, Nepal) seeks to hire one driver cum office assistant to support the ILRI team in implementing various livestock based research and development activities in the head office and in the field.

Roles and Responsibilities
– Purpose

  • Provide Quality Transport services for ILRI assets (officials and project supplies)
  • Provide proper care and maintenance of assigned vehicle
  • Administration
  • Office Support
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor from time to time

– Engagement
Provide quality transport services for ILRI assets (Officials and project supplies), including:

  • Transport ILRI staff, visitors or VIP’s safely to any destination assigned by ILRI
  • Deliver/Pick-up important institute documents
  • Ensure comfort and safety of all passengers, by driving safely and according to the traffic rules
  • Abide to and monitor traffic rules & regulation, occupational health and safety requirements (Seat belt) of passengers and drivers
  • Replace other drivers when needed
  • Provide proper care and maintenance of assigned vehicle:
  • Check for the roadworthiness and safety check-up of assigned vehicle before the trip
  • Submit Vehicle Condition Report if there’s unusual condition in the vehicle after the trip, including any damage caused by accident
  • Ensure that the vehicle is clean and presentable and all necessary tools are on board •

– Administration

  • Submit duly accomplished log book to vehicle dispatcher for vehicle maintenance record
  • Ensure that overtime sheet is approved by supervisor regularly
  • Keep vehicle documents (registration, fitness) and driving license up to date
  • Provide support to office finance cum admin team for the office work including bank visits

– Office Support

  • Assist in basic office support duties and general support for maintenance of office facilities when necessary Provide basic administrative support when not on travelling such as photocopying and faxing, banking visits and other clerical tasks
  • Provide basic support in the organization of meetings, training and seminars • Assist in organizing field and events activities
  • Purchase small goods, such as office supplies, when required after the approval

– Delivery

  • Movement support
  • Logistics and event organizational support
  • Support for field visits
  • Pick up and drop of guests

Key Performance Indicators

  • Safe driving, based on limited accidents reported
  • passenger satisfaction with minimum or no complaints
  • Ensure assigned vehicle is in good running condition and clean
  • Assigned vehicle meets the standards of safety and security
  • Timely submission of reports and logs
  • Timely execution of administrative jobs
  • Satisfactory completion of logistics assignments

Qualification

  • Completed 10 th class
  • Govt. Approved Driving License
  • Minimum 5 years driving experience of light and heavy vehicles

Skills Required
Mandatory

  • Driving license
  • 5 years driving experience in the major city/ies, hilly terrain, off roads in Nepal
  • Has knowledge in First Aid Training

Preferred

  • Working experience in CGIAR centres
  • Communication, inter personal skills
